2-1-1 Colorado & Disaster Response

2-1-1 Colorado assists with emergency situations and has worked with local and state emergency management during numerous disasters, beginning in 2005, when the Governor asked 2-1-1 to be the number to dial for those wanting to volunteer or donate to assist the 13,000 Gulf Coast evacuees that were brought to Denver after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

In 2012, Colorado was hit by several devastating wildfires, requiring the collective efforts of 2-1-1 Colorado to handle the flood of calls for information on evacuations, shelter locations, donating, volunteering, road closures, how to sign up for reverse 9-1-1 calls, etc. In just over a four week period, 2-1-1 Colorado received over 10,000 calls. 2-1-1 Colorado also assisted in the Aurora mass casualty incident.
