Welcome to the Stakeholder Engagement Division

We work to facilitate a two-way flow of timely and accurate information with our partners and stakeholders to improve understanding of the marine environment and to enable fishermen to harvest in compliance with current regulatory mandates.

The overarching principles that guide our work are:

• Present information regarding conservation and management of the region’s living marine resources clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner;
• Ensuring that stakeholders have more opportunities to provide input and are more satisfied that their input is heard and valued;
• Using improved and expanded communications methods and technologies to make information readily available;
• Facilitating improved and informed decision-making by internal and external parties;
• Advancing ocean literacy to encourage stewardship and informed decision making related to marine resources;
• Increasing public and internal knowledge of NOAA Fisheries programs; and
• Enhancing collaboration among NOAA Fisheries staff, Councils, fishing industry members, Tribes, and other partner organizations
