Mission

Through strategic investments in science and technology, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) helps power and secure America's future. DOE's capabilities, and the innovations it supports, help ensure the country's role as a leader in science and technology. In particular, technology transfer supports the maturation and deployment of DOE discoveries, providing ongoing economic, security and environmental benefits for all Americans.

In 2015, the Secretary of Energy authorized the formation of the Office of Technology Transitions, which is responsible for developing and overseeing delivery of the DOE strategic vision and goals for technology commercialization and engagement with the business and industrial sectors across the US, such as manufacturing, energy and technology.

The Mission of the Office of Technology Transitions is to expand the commercial impact of DOE’s portfolio of Research, Development, Demonstration and Deployment (RDD&D) activities over the short, medium and long term.
