Japan is one of the world's largest markets for seafood products. Supply for this market comes from both domestic production and imports. Japan is a major export market for U.S. fishery products. Since 1975, NOAA Fisheries has analyzed the Japanese seafood market data with its Japanese Market News series. This data series includes data provided by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Japan Ministry of Finance, and the Japan Fisheries Agency.
