The Clean Air Act and The Clean Air Regulations specify the requirements around air permitting, permit exemptions, reporting of discharges of air contaminants and specifies ambient air quality standards.

Application to Operate an Industrial Source, Incinerator, or Fuel Burning Equipment 
Facilities with an industrial source, incinerator, or fuel burning equipment are required to obtain an approval from the Ministry of Environment prior to operation. The Clean Air Act and The Clean Air Regulations identify application requirements to be submitted to the Environmental Protection Branch.

Application to Alter, Add or Change an Industrial Source, Incinerator, or Fuel Burning Equipment 
Facilities wanting to alter, add, or change an industrial source, incinerator, or fuel burning equipment are required to get an approval from the ministry prior to operation. The Clean Air Act and The Clean Air Regulations identify application requirements to be submitted to the Environmental Protection Branch.
