Tribal Wildlife Grant Program - History
The Tribal Wildlife Grant (TWG) Program was created by Congress within the State Wildlife Grant program in 2002, setting aside $5 million to establish a competitive tribal grant program for Federally-recognized Indian tribes. These funds were not subject to further requirements of the formula-based State Wildlife Grant program.
In FY 2007, $6,000,000 was provided for TWG projects. Although the Interior Department budget has not yet been passed by the Congress and signed by the President, proposals are now being solicited in anticipation of funding equal to that available in FY 2007.
