TITLE: Intern
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- provides research for professional staff to assist with legislative process and the responses to constituent mail
- provides administrative support to the Committee
QUALIFICATIONS:
- excellent oral and written communication skills;
- ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;
- organized, responsible, dependable and willing to learn.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- conducts research necessary to complete assignments/projects by other staff members;
- conducts research necessary to formulate responses to letters;
- answers constituent requests by telephone and fields incoming constituent calls and walk-in appointments;
- obtains documents and legislative materials requested by staff and/or constituents;
- maintains a working knowledge of issues and business before the Committee, including the Committee's hearing schedule, calendar and legislative agenda;
- attends hearings, briefings and other events, taking accurate notes and reporting to other staff members as appropriate;
- assists with front office responsibilities (answers phones, distributes, mail, signs for packages, greets visitors); and
- performs other duties as assigned.
