I'm suffering an attack of conscience. A while back a trucker who posts on G+ made a comment about posting while driving. This is not very funny to me at all so I reported it to his trucking company. Rather than canning him it seems they told him to delete the comments and cover it up. 

Then I saw a video clip of a trucker texting just before he hit a police vehicle. Time for me to get back on the ball. So here it is:

I just went to the newest branch of our local co-op, La Montanita, and saw the documentary 'Food for Change.'
It's about the history of co-ops and influences on the food production system  and who controls it. I came away  enlightened and inspired to do more to promote regional food production and co-ops. Movie trailer ->  http://foodforchange.coop/trailer/

Here are some pictures of the Cedar Grove area of Bidwell Park. I noticed that Google didn't have any shots of the area that were clearly labeled so I thought I'd throw something up for people wondering where it was they're going to. 

Lots of weddings, parties and public events are held here so folks get directions but still sometimes have trouble recognizing the place. I can go to all of these spots within a 20 minute walk from my front door.

Some folks I know are setting up a seed exchange program at the local library for gardeners. The idea is that gardeners save seed from plants they grow and donate them to the exchange. Then other gardeners can check them out like they check out a book use the seeds and hopefully return more seeds later.

If you just added me to your circles and are wondering why I'm not circling you back right away.... It's because I can't have 4,000 people in my stream. I am a pessimist. If your world-view is unicorns-shitting-rainbows block me now. 

Anybody left? Good, we can get to work because optimists don't seem able to make a roof that doesn't leak or a foundation that sits above the water table instead of under it. Optimists build cruise ships that flop over and sink when holed. Optimists design economic structures that collapse like a house of cards in a slight breeze. 

We have to build a better world than the optimists will let us build. A world that expects that rain falls at inconvenient times and deals with it. A world that deals with climate change and ecological overshoot. A world that deals with people as we find them instead of as we wish them to be.
