NOAA Fisheries Announces Proposed 2017-2019 Atlantic Deep-Sea Red Crab Quotas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
December 1, 2016

NOAA Fisheries is proposing specifications for the 2017 Atlantic deep-sea red crab fishery, including an annual catch limit and total allowable landings limit. We are also proposing projected quotas for 2018-2019.

The New England Fishery Management Council's recommendation is to continue the existing red crab fishery quota of 1,775 metric tons for fishing years 2017-2019.

Landings from 2013-2015 were below this quota, but have been increasing.

Read the proposed rule and supporting documents.

The comment period is open through January 3, 2017.
