FORT GORDON, Ga. (NNS) -- Chief Warrant Officer 4 Charles J. Grady Jr., transferred responsibility as the officer-in-charge of Center for Information Dominance Detachment (CID Det.) Fort Gordon to Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael Lester in a change of charge ceremony, June 10.
Cmdr. Edward Kruk, executive officer for CID headquarters, presided over the event, praising Grady for his exceptional leadership and Fort Gordon Sailors for their outstanding support for the information warfare training mission.
"Since Warrant Officer Grady reported in May 2014, his tremendous impact on the training mission at Fort Gordon has been clear and inspiring," said Kruk. "From a superb CID formal course review in 2014 to his ensuring the highest curriculum and instructor standards were achieved, he cultivated an atmosphere of understanding, harmony, and esprit de corps throughout the detachment -- which obviously translated into stellar training for our Sailors and joint partners."
Under Grady's leadership, the 37 Sailors assigned to CID Det. Fort Gordon trained over 1,400 joint service students in over 145 courses, achieving a 98 percent graduation rate along with a 94 percent grade point average. They provide enlisted "C" and "F" school courses for cryptologic technicians, electronics technicians, and information systems technicians, in addition to service members from other branches of the military.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to have served here with the fine Sailors at Fort Gordon," said Grady, who will soon retire after a 30-year naval career. "I am simply awestruck by the tenacity of our instructors and their drive for personal excellence and mission accomplishment. It gives me great pride to have been a part of this organization and great confidence in the future of our Navy and military."
Lester reports from Navy Information Operations Command Georgia and brings almost 30 years of experience as a linguist and information warfare officer to his new position.
"I am both humbled and honored to be here today," said Lester. "I look forward to working with you all to continue providing world-class training for the information warfare community."
CID Det. Fort Gordon is part of the information warfare community's training organization, the Center for Information Dominance. CID's mission is to deliver information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services, enabling optimal performance of information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
With nearly 1,300 military, civilian and contracted staff members, CID oversees the development and administration of over 200 courses at four commands, two detachments, and 12 learning sites throughout the United States and Japan. CID provides training for approximately 22,000 members of the U.S. armed forces and allied forces each year.
