By U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet Public Affairs - August 19, 2015
FORT MEADE, Md. (NNS) -- Vice Adm. Jan E. Tighe, commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/10th Fleet (FCC/C10F), has announced the Fleet's new executive director will arrive August 24.

Matthew Swartz, a member of the Senior Executive Service, was selected for the position and will serve as the senior civilian, as well as senior information management, information technology and cyber security official for FCC/C10F.

"I look forward to Mr. Swartz joining the Fleet Cyber team," said Tighe. "He brings with him a wealth of experience, both from senior leadership positions in commercial industry, as well as nearly a decade of government service. Moreover, I know him to be a collaborative leader and innovator that will serve our operations well in the months and years to come."

As executive director and CIO, Mr. Swartz will provide advice and assistance to the commander in both operational and strategic matters.

Swartz was previously assigned as the director of the communications and networks division in the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Dominance (N2/N6) organization and was detailed to lead Task Force Cyber Awakening.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy's Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. Fleet Cyber Command also reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations as an Echelon II command.

U.S. 10th Fleet is the operational arm of Fleet Cyber Command and executes its mission through a task force structure similar to other warfare commanders.
