Robert Foster Named New DON CIO
By DON CIO News - June 29, 2015
Mr. Rob Foster was selected to serve as the Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer effective June 15, 2015. Mr. Foster brings with him more than 30 years of leadership service to the United States, both as a civilian leader and as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy.

Foster joined the Department of the Navy team after serving as Deputy CIO for the Department of Health and Human Services, and before that, as Deputy CIO with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the Department of Homeland Security.

Speaking at the DON IT Conference Town Hall on June 18, Mr. Foster shared his near-term goals as DON CIO of focusing on DON employee productivity, including mobility, cybersecurity, and using business analytics to drive decision-making. The conference provided Mr. Foster with an early opportunity to meet and exchange information with DON IT leadership and stakeholders from various DON and DoD organizations and commands.
