The Navy General Public Library offers digital content online with 50 different products and services, including ebooks, audio books, car repair, home repair, and children's tumblebooks which are read to them through the computer.
The NGPL is available to Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, military dependents, retired and Reserve military personnel, Naval Academy midshipmen, Department of the Navy (DON) Delayed Entry Program personnel, DON and Navy Appropriated Fund civilian employees, and DON contractors.
Services are available worldwide, on any device, including your laptop, and you can log in anywhere that has internet connectivity. By using the Navy Digital Library you can save money because you will not need to purchase the books, magazines and newspapers that you love.
“Since the beginning of fiscal year 2016 to June more than 353,000 ebooks and audio books have been downloaded from our Navy MWR Overdrive service,” said Nellie S. C. Moffitt, MSLS, Navy General Library Program Manager.
Other services offered include: Chilton’s Auto Repair database, Foreign Language Learning, Tutoring for Children and Active Duty Sailors, Morningstar Financial database, and the Navy Times, and for those looking for genealogy services, the NGPL offers the Ancestry Library edition.
Commander, Navy Installations Command sponsors the MWR Library Program. To access the digital library, authorized users can visit http://www.navymwrdigitallibrary.org, and click "login" in the upper right hand corner. Those who do not have a Common Access Card can use a Defense Self-Service (DS) login to gain access to the website. Those who don't have a DS login can register on the same webpage.
