Department of the Navy, Naval Enterprise Networks, Issues Third RFI to Industry
By PEO-EIS Public Affairs Office - April-June 2016
Washington, D.C., July 25, 2016 -- The Naval Enterprise Networks (NEN) Program Management Office (PMW 205), on behalf of the Department of the Navy (DON) and the Marine Corps, has released a third Request for Information (RFI) in preparation for the re-compete of the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN-R) contract via FedBizOps.Gov.

The purpose of this RFI is to gain specific information on how industry could address problem statements in three areas (Navy Private Cloud, Assured Command and Control & Situational Awareness, and Productivity Optimization). Vendors are invited to submit white papers in response to this Request for Information (RFI).

Responses are due by August 11, 2016. For specific directions, please see the two files here.

The RFI is part of the standard defense acquisition process involving a contract re-compete with a projected award date in 2018.

About the NMCI
The Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) is the Department of the Navy's (DON) shore-based enterprise network in the continental United States and Hawaii, providing a single integrated, secure IT environment for reliable, stable information transfer. NMCI represents about 70 percent of all DON IT operations.

About NGEN
Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) is the current NMCI contract vehicle. The NGEN contract replaced the enterprise IT services previously provided by the NMCI Continuity of Services Contract (CoSC).

About the Naval Enterprise Networks
Established on Feb. 24, 2011, The Naval Enterprise Networks (NEN) Program Office manages the acquisition life-cycle of the Department of the Navy's (DON) enterprise-wide IT networks. NEN's portfolio includes: the NMCI network, the Base Level Information Infrastructure (BLII) for the Outside of the Continental United States (OCONUS) Naval Enterprise Network (ONE-Net), and the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) contract. PMW 205 unifies the Navy's terrestrial networks and data management to improve capability and service, by focusing efforts under one program office and one enterprise network construct. The NGEN re-compete activity is being planned and executed on behalf of PEO EIS, and in coordination with the United States Marine Corps and the Data Center Application Optimization (DCAO) office.
