Did you know you can use your personal portable electronic devices in select DON spaces? ...

The proliferation of personal portable electronic devices (PPEDs) in the form of wearable technology has increased dramatically since their introduction in the 1980s. You can find the latest information on using PPEDs in DON spaces in ALNAV 019/16 "Acceptable Use of Authorized Personal Electronic Devices in Specific Department of the Navy Spaces," released by SECNAV on March 25, 2016.

This ALNAV, coordinated by the Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy Policy and the DON Chief Information Officer, provides interim policy for the acceptable use of wireless-enabled PPEDs in spaces where collateral classified information is processed, transmitted, stored, or discussed. Several types of PPEDs are addressed, however the ALNAV focuses on the use of portable electronic activity monitoring devices (e.g., fitness monitors, and medical devices such as glucose and heart monitors).
