Naval Enterprise Networks Extends RFI Deadline for NGEN Recompete Contract
By Naval Enterprise Networks Public Affairs - October 20, 2015
WASHINGTON, D.C., October 19, 2015 -- The Naval Enterprise Networks (NEN) Program Management Office (PMW 205) extended the deadline to submit responses to a Request for Information (RFI) accessible through FedBizOpps.Gov from October 19, 2015 to October 23, 2015. The four day extension is to give more time for the small business community to respond.

NMCI provides end-to-end secure IT services to the Department of the Navy (DON) military, civilian, and contractor personnel, supporting more than 300,000 seats and over 700,000 users, in more than 2,500 locations that vary from major bases to single user locations across the globe.

As the owner of NMCI — one of the largest networks in the world — the DON is committed to fully engaging industry and DON stakeholders, and analyzing market research information from this RFI, in order to provide maximum capability and value to our warfighters and taxpayers. "We are committed to providing optimized enterprise services to our Sailors and Marines and we are committed to working with the small business community to do so," said NEN Program Manager Capt. Michael Abreu, U.S. Navy.

The RFI is part of the standard defense acquisition process. NEN intends to release a second RFI during the November/December time frame. The two RFI's and other engagement mechanisms will inform the acquisition strategy of the NGEN contract re-compete. Members of industry that wish to respond to the RFI will be asked to answer a series of questions provided in a link within the RFI.

About the NMCI
The Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) is the Department of the Navy's (DON) shore-based enterprise network in the continental United States and Hawaii, providing a single integrated, secure IT environment for reliable, stable information transfer. NMCI represents about 70 percent of all DON IT operations.

About NGEN
Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) is the current NMCI contract vehicle. The NGEN contract replaced the enterprise IT services previously provided by the NMCI Continuity of Services Contract (CoSC).
