Safety

The Safety Office at Naval Station Mayport manages the Navy's Occupational Safety and Health program, which includes annual inspections of all facilities, abatement of workplace hazards, sight & hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, respiratory protection, mishap prevention, weight handling safety, and indoor air quality, for all military personnel, their dependents, and civilian employees.

The Safety Office also provides oversight to civilian contractors aboard the Naval Station. The Safety Office is also responsible for the Traffic Safety Program to include AAA Driving and Motorcycle Safety classes. Additionally, it manages the Recreation, Athletic, and Home Safety Programs by inspecting the gymnasium, fitness center, auto hobby shop, golf course facilities, playgrounds, and basketball courts.

Monthly Department Safety Representative meetings are held to discuss safety concerns and needs of Naval Station personnel.
