The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) gives the public the general right to obtain Federal records (exceptions to this right include protections for information that is: 1) classified; 2) a matter of internal Agency rules; 3) exempted from the FOIA by other statutes; 4) proprietary; 5) privileged; 6) private; 7) a matter of investigation). The Department of the Navy adheres to these regulations. Fees may apply.
