Mean Green Club Has Created The Mean Green Scholarship Society

As an athletic program evolves so do the priorities of the department. The current focus of the Mean Green athletics department includes fielding winning teams, continuing to improve facilities, and to growing the Mean Green Club.

Over the years, the Mean Green Club has provided annual funding to offset a portion (approximately 16 percent) of the athletic department’s $4.5 million scholarship budget for student-athletes. As the cost of scholarship aid increases, North Texas athletics must raise additional funds to stay nationally competitive. The Mean Green Scholarship Society will play an important role in generating the necessary scholarship funding to stay competitive and support our student-athletes.

In an effort to grow support in this area, the Mean Green Club has created the Mean Green Scholarship Society. The MGSS offers two scholarship options; the Mean Green Annual Scholarship and the Forever Green and White Scholarship.

“If North Texas wants to continue to compete at the highest level, it is imperative that we increase the amount of scholarship cost covered by the Mean Green Club and the Mean Green Scholarship Society," said John Nitardy, senior associate athletic director and executive director of the Mean Green Club.

The Mean Green Annual Scholarship directly offsets scholarship costs. To establish a MGAS, a donor would agree to give a minimum of $2500 per year for a term of five years to the scholarship fund. MGC donation and club seat per seat donations will be counted toward this gift.

The Forever Green and White Scholarship is an endowed scholarship with an early activation component. The donor will agree to set up an endowed scholarship with the name of their choosing in the amount of at least $31,500, to be paid over five years. $5000 would be used to establish the named endowment and the remaining $1250 would be used for immediate awarding of the scholarship.
