North Texas Tennis Falls To UTEP

DENTON (4/13/07) The North Texas tennis team played UT- El Paso today at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving and fell 4-2. The two teams only played singles due to inclement weather.

"Top to bottom, this was one of our best singles performances of the season,” said head coach Sujay Lama. “At one point we were up 2-1 and had the lead in two other matches. The thing that impresses me is that we look fresh, motivated and ready to battle for every point. We certainly are peaking and we hope to continue this tomorrow versus Louisiana Tech and hopefully we will pull out a victory on senior day."

Senior Megan Schmulbach won in No. 1 singles today against Weronika Bloczynska (6-2, 6-2).

Junior Idalina Franca defeated Isabela Kulaif in No. 2 singles today (6-2, 6-4).

The tennis team is back in action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Waranch Tennis Complex as they take on Louisiana Tech during the last match of the season before the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The team will honor its only senior Megan Schmulbach at tomorrows match.
