DENTON, Texas - The 40^th-rated Mean Green tennis team heads north to Tulsa, Okla., for a pair of weekend matches against No. 30 Tulsa and undefeated Kansas at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.

North Texas (8-4) has won three matches in a row and six of its last seven, including victories over No. 53 Kansas State, No. 44 TCU, No. 50 Cal Poly and FIU, the defending Sun Belt Champs.

Week Seven Notes

"We are starting to hit our stride," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We played very well in our last two matches and would like to build on it. Our doubles looked much better and I'm confident that it can be a strength for us as we start the second half of our season."

Senior Nadia Lee led the way for the Mean Green last weekend, collecting a 2-0 record in singles and extending her winning streak to three. Lee also teamed with Barbora Vykydalova for the first time this season in doubles and swept their competition with a 2-0 record as well.

Tulsa (7-2) has won four of its last five matches, but dropped the most recent on to No. 24 Ole Miss, 5-2.  The Golden Hurricane and the Mean Green have had three common opponents thus far, with Tulsa defeating No. 31 Oklahoma, No. 53 Kansas State and Oral Roberts.

The Golden Hurricane also features two ranked singles players as No. 67 Samantha Vickers and No. 82 Anastasia Erofeeva occupy the top-two singles slots.

"Both of these matches are great challenges for us but also offer an opportunity to improve and grow," Lama added. "The key is for us to continue focusing on the process and enjoying this special journey."

The Jayhawks (7-0) come into this weekend's matches with a perfect record and the 118^th-rated singles player in the nation in Maria Belen Luduena. Kansas defeated Sun Belt Conference for UALR earlier in the season, 7-0.

Friday's match with No. 30 Tulsa will begin at 3 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, with first serve for Saturday's match against the Jayhawks set for 12 p.m.
