MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (4/18/10) - North Texas Tennis wrapped up the regular season with a win over conference opponent Troy Sunday afternoon when it downed the Trojans 5-2.

The Mean Green (14-6) continued to jump out on top early as they most of the season, and grabbed the doubles point.

"It was good to finish our regular season with a win over a talented Troy team," said head coach Sujay Lama. "One of our goals was to go into conference as a top two seed and we've done that with this win. We are peaking at the right time and will be heading to New Orleans with confidence and momentum behind us."

Continuing their reign in the No. 1 doubles spot, Irina Paraschiv and Amu Joubert took down another opponent with relative ease when they defeated the Trojans Emma Smith and Lauren Simpson 8-3.

Narine Kazarova teamed up with Madura Ranganathan in the No. 3 doubles slot and dominated Troy's Leonie Guijt and Gabriella Veiga 8-0.

Kazarova ran her personal win streak to nine in singles with relative ease, taking down Rosaura Ramirez-Vega in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 from the No. 5 slot.

The top two sports in singles also excelled for the Mean Green, with Ranganathan winning over Karoline Grymel in the No. 1 slot 6-3, 6-0 and Paraschiv also turning in a straight set victory over Lauren Simpson 6-0, 6-4.

North Texas closed out the season winning nine of its last 11 matches and will carry that momentum into the Sun Belt Conference Championship as a No.2 seed.  The SBC Championship starts Thursday, April 22 with the championship on Sunday April 25 in New Orleans, La.
