Mean Green Dominate Middle Tennessee, 4-0

FORT WORTH, Texas - Mean Green tennis shut down the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 4-0 Friday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU.

With a limited number of indoor courts available, the teams played singles before doubles until a winning score was reached.

North Texas (8-11) grabbed wins from the No. 2 - No. 5 singles spots for the convincing shut-out victory.

"We played well and are starting to hit our stride," associate head coach Jeff Maren said. "Our confidence has returned just in time."

Junior Irina Paraschiv kicked things off for the Mean Green, holding Middle Tennessee's (7-9) Carla Nava to only one game in the 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Nadia Lee finished just behind Paraschiv, taking out the Blue Raiders Lexi Brand in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.

Of the two victories remaining, junior Paula Dinuta had the toughest time, defeating Marietta Bigus 6-4, 6-2 while Madura Ranganathan ran through MTSU's Taylor Coffey 6-2, 6-1.

North Texas will be back in action Sunday morning when it takes on Troy on senior day.  Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex.  Admission, as always, is free.
