Mean Green Student-Athletes Recognized For Academics

DENTON - The University of North Texas honored 223 student-athletes for their academic achievements during the 2015 spring and fall semesters at halftime of Thursday night's men's basketball game at the Super Pit.

Students with grade-point averages of 3.00-3.49 were placed on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, students with G.P.A's of 3.50-3.99 were on the Dean's List and students with a 4.00 G.P.A made the President's List. A student-athlete had to earn at least a G.P.A of 3.0 in one of the two semesters to make the honor roll.

For the third straight year, the Mean Green tennis team held the highest cumulative team G.P.A during the combined two 2015 semesters with 11 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 G.P.A.

Six tennis players posted a 4.0 G.P.A in at least one of the two semesters. The volleyball team followed with 21 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 GPA.

The swimming and diving team posted the third-highest G.PA. in the two semesters and also had the third-most student-athletes making at least one of the three lists with 34.

Football had the most student-athletes on the honor roll with 55. The women’s track and field team followed with 35 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 G.P.A. Thirteen of the 35 posted a 4.0 in one of the two semesters.
