Denton (1/24/07) The North Texas swimming and diving team was able to break a school record and posted seven top-five times to defeat Incarnate Word (118-9) but fell to TCU (83-48) on Wednesday night at the Pohl Recreational Center.

"We were good in spurts but we weren't able to be flawless, and at this point, to beat TCU we have to be flawless," said head coach Joe Dykstra. "We were able to race hard and win a few races down the stretch and that is what we have to do in order to compete at conference."

Freshman Alicia Hale, who holds four school records, broke the record n the 400 IM for the second straight meet in a row with a time of 4:32.78. She placed first in both the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, and notched a second place finish in the 400 IM.

Senior Gwen Rourke swam the fourth-best time in school history in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.41. It is indisputably her best event as she holds the top-five times in school history in the 200 breaststroke. This was the last home meet for eight senior swimmers who have competed for the Mean Green over the past four years.
