Mean Green Places Fifth At FAU Invite

BOCA RATON, Florida (1/3/09) - The swimming & diving team of North Texas finished in fifth place out of six schools at the Florida Atlantic Invitational on Saturday.

Penn took home first with 622 points followed by the host Florida Atlantic then Brown. In fourth was Maryland then North Texas with 287 points and Ilinois State with 273.

In its first meet in over a month, the Mean Green squad couldn't quite reach the level of performance it had back on November 20-23 at the Husker Invitational.

North Texas did have several swimmers finish in the top five of their events.

The 1000 Freestyle saw Emily Floyd place fourth and Angie Dworschack get fifth. The 200 Medley Relay team of Nicole Leslie, Alicia Hale, Rosa Gentile, and Seabre also took the fifth spot.

Taryne Cantillo claimed fifth in the 200 Butterfly and so did Nicole Leslie in the 50 Freestyle. Alicia Hale took fifth in the 500 Freestyle.

The Mean Green looks to step it up next Saturday, January 10 at 11 a.m. as the team hosts the Utah Utes at the Pohl Recreation Center.
