Theme of September’s ceremony at Pearl Harbor Visitor Center honors our POWs and MIAs
PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM – The next Pearl Harbor Colors Ceremony will be held Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 am at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. The ceremony will provide a venue to honor the 83,000 POWs and MIAs still waiting to come home. The free event is open to the public.
Sponsored by Navy Region Hawaii in coordination with the National Park Service, the ceremony will feature the U.S. Pacific Fleet Band, PACOM Joint Service Color Guard, an official observance of “morning colors” and remarks from Capt Gerald Coffee, USN (Ret). Capt. Coffee is an author and motivational speaker, who spent over seven years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.
Captain Coffee’s book, Beyond Survival, describes his experiences in gritty detail and his powerful speeches have inspired thousands worldwide with a message of hope, faith, courage, and honor.

The setting for Pearl Harbor Colors is the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, which is home to Hawaii’s most visited historic site – the USS Arizona Memorial – expected to draw 1.5 million visitors in 2015.
