Fines Rates

The following table details the standard fines rate for various items owned and lent by the UNT Libraries.  Rates are applicable to all UNT students and courtesy card holders.

  • Regular Circulating Items (Books, Scores, etc.),
  • Juvenile Collection Materials,
  • CMC Collection Materials,
  • Media: Audio CD/Cassette, CD-ROMs
  • Music: Audio Materials / DVDs
$0.35 per day,
$39.90 maximum fine
  • Periodicals (Current & Bound)
$25.00 per day,
$250.00 maximum fine
  • Media: DVD / VHS / Laserdisc,
  • Non-Circulating Materials,
  • Recalled Items*
$2.00 per day,
$100.00 maximum fine
  • Media Library: Equipment

  • Reserve Materials: 2 hour
  • Reserve Materials: 2 hour building use only
  • Reserve Materials: 24 hour

  • Laptops
$10.00 per hour (or any portion of an hour), up to $100.00

Recalled Items

*Please note that when an item is recalled it incurs a higher-than-normal fines rate.  See more information on recalls here.

Notices

  1. An overdue notice will be sent to individuals with overdue material through e-mail when items are 10 days overdue. 
  2. A second overdue notice will be sent through the U.S. Postal Service when items are 30 days overdue.

Regardless of whether or not these notices are received, it is the borrower’s responsibility to return the material to the Libraries by the dat​e due. The Libraries are not responsible if the notice is not received due to an inaccurate address, if the mail is misdirected by the Postal Service, or if the e-mail address is invalid.

Information for Faculty & Staff

UNT Faculty and Staff are not assessed late fees, but may be assessed fees for lost or damaged items, and may be blocked for un-returned items.
