Career and Professional Development Programming

FIRST YEAR PROGRAMMING

First Year Programming at UNTD College of Law

During our 1L Fundamentals of Being a Lawyer course, students are introduced to the Office of Career and Professional Development. Two comprehensive orientation sessions are held during the fall semester. Throughout the year, the Office of Career and Professional Development hosts formal and informal sessions. Seasoned professionals will regularly provide career information. The office will hold a variety of programs, including but not limited to:

  • Resume writing seminars;
  • Interview preparation/mock interviews;
  • Information sessions related to the legal job market;
  • Meet and greet events with employers and potential mentors aimed at successful networking; and
  • Business management competencies.

During the Office of Career and Professional Development orientation, students are introduced to Symplicity, an online interface that will enable students to coordinate with the Office of Career and Professional Development regarding services and activities.

Beginning in February 2015, employers who are seeking students for summer employment will be invited for on campus interviews (“OCI”). Job postings will be made available to students.  Since this is not a formal OCI program, employers will not be required to interview students on campus.
