About us

Through the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and the Department of Physical Therapy, the School of Health Professions delivers the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to serve in the health care professions. We also offer current health care professionals the opportunity to further their career development.

Careers as either a physician assistant or a physical therapist are among the most rewarding and needed of all the health care professions. Individuals serving in these careers have challenging and satisfying careers while enjoying considerable flexibility in their choice of practice and working conditions.

Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree offers unparalleled training in musculoskeletal and orthopedic practices, and osteopathic manipulative therapy techniques. And in 2010, Forbes.com cited the physician assistant as the number one profession on their top ten list of “Best Master’s Degrees for Jobs.” Classes in both PT and PA programs include inter-professional experiences designed to prepare students to be contributing members of the healthcare team.

In addition, our Graduate Certificate in Lifestyle Health is designed for health care professionals and full-time students who have direct contact with patients and clients. The program includes an introduction to lifestyle health, assessing client readiness for change, the role of nutrition in health and managing chronic diseases, physical activity, smoking cessation, stress management and sleep habits.
