Off-Site Approval

New Off-Site Program and Course Approval/Reporting Procedures

Depending on the percentage of off-site courses required for a program offered at a site other than UNT, one of 3 different procedures for approval and reporting apply.

  1. New Off-Site Programs with 50%-100% Off-Site Courses
  2. New Off-Site Courses with 25%-49% of Courses (Required for Program) Offered Off-Site
  3. New Off-Site Courses with up to 24% of Courses (Required for Program) Offered Off-Site

New Off-Site Programs

The offering of the program at the specific site must be approved within UNT and reported to external agencies such as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and SACS. A new off-site program will probably require a visit by SACS.

If a department is planning on offering a program off site, they need to complete a proposal form and submit it to the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.  The department is strongly encouraged to consult with Dr. Allen Clark, Vice Provost of Academic Resources, during the development of the proposal.

To begin the off-site program approval process, follow the steps below at least nine months before the program will begin at the off-site location.

  1. Prepare a program proposal providing the information requested in the program proposal form.
  2. Consult with and obtain approval of chair and dean.
  3. Send the proposal with letter of support from chair and dean to Marjorie Donzello in the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at least six months before program is to begin.
  4. The proposal will be reviewed with a recommendation to the President.
