Jerry Austin has been teaching Ceramics at UNT for thirty one years and as coordinator of the program, helped build it into a widely respected facility drawing students from the surrounding region and far beyond. After eleven years as Studio Art Department chair and a year as interim Associate Dean of Administration for CVAD, Austin returned to full time teaching and studio pursuits for his last few years before retiring. He is currently pursuing cone 5-6 functional work and a line of heavy sculptural basins and time markers.
