Humanities Texas Highlights POW Interviews from the UNT Oral History Collection

Among the many other things Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, does for the people of Texas, it sponsors workshops and creates curriculum aids for schoolteachers. Humanities Texas has just released American Prisoners of War: Firsthand Accounts from the Civil War to Vietnam, an online resource for teachers that showcases several interviews from the UNT Oral History Collection. It's gratifying to know that UNT's interviews with Roy Maxwell Offerle, Rufus W. Smith, and Robert Preston Taylor are being put to this use, and that what they had to say about their experiences will help Texas schoolchildren learn more about the sacrifices American veterans have made and continue to make.
