Designer Position at Pallas Architectural Woodworks

Pallas Architectural Woodworks is specialized in custom furniture, cabinetry & architectural interiors. High end residential (some commercial).  Hand-crafted / carved period styles and contemporary. Full time preferred but part time would be considered as an immediate need. Paid/Commensurate with experience. Hours negotiable if not full time.
Regarding qualification, Interior Design Degree preferred but would consider upper level student if part time or soon to graduate. Responsibilities are sketching, drafting/design, develop shop drawings for production, on-site measuring, and some office administration.

SUMMARY:  A Project Designer plans, designs, and furnishes interior environments of commercial spaces.  Responsibilities include interfacing with sales people and/or clients to determine purpose and scope of work, creates and maintains time schedules, develops furniture typicals and standards, participates in client presentations, and works with corporate account inventories.  Integrates findings with knowledge of interior design and formulates plans, renders schematic designs, working drawings, product specifications and ideas in the form of drawings or illustrations.  Estimates material requirements, costs, and presents designs for client review, approval and implementation.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  A Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university or a minimum of 2-years related work experience.

Part-Time Librarian Intern

lauckgroup is an interior architecture firm with offices in Dallas, Austin and Houston. We are a firm with approximately 50 full-time staff and work regionally, nationally and internationally. lauckgroup’s work focuses on high touch projects with a hand crafted design approach. Projects are highly detailed and require integration of multiple consultants, furniture and architectural elements. Project size and scope vary from 5,000 to 1,000,000 square feet.

Location: Based in Dallas office, requiring coordination with staff in all offices (Dallas, Austin, Houston)

Position Summary
Student interns will have the opportunity to work in an interior architecture firm with registered architects and interior designers. Library maintenance and vendor relations will be the main functions of this position.
• Rotate new products and keep products up to date
• Schedule library updates with reps
• Schedule product presentations
• Update contact list as needed
• Refiling of materials
• Manage and update discontinued items
• Reorganize library sections as needed
• Assemble finish binders
• Organize ZERO LANDFILL in fall / spring – research other recycling opportunities

Skills gained from the position:
• Gain an understanding of materials in the commercial design market.
• Learn to differentiate products by project type, aesthetic and durability. Product applications for a variety of design sectors such as: corporate, tech, higher education, law and hospitality applications.

ART Building After-Hour Access (Note: Accessible with ID CARD ONLY)

From October 10th, CVAD will activate the swipe card readers on the exterior of the Art Building. CVAD students, faculty and staff will have the ability to swipe into the Art Building for after-hours access.

Weekdays After-Hour starting at 11 pm (ART Building)
Weekends After-Hour starting at 10 pm (ART Building)

The Art Building will have a building monitor scheduled to work weekdays from 5pm – 11pm and weekends from noon – 5pm. Another Building monitor will be scheduled to work in the Welch St. modular until 10pm during weekends. That monitor will provide support to the Art Building as needed. The ART building will automatically lock after the building monitors shift and access will only be granted through the swipe card readers.

Students, to be granted access to the building you must be enrolled in a CVAD course. Also, if you are a returning student and your UNT ID card is older than 5 years you may need a new UNT ID card. Please visit Student Accounting and University Cashiering Services at the Eagle Student Services Center to receive a new UNT ID card.

How to get your UNT Student ID card
1. Go to the 1st Floor of the Eagle Student Services Center on the Denton Campus. ID Systems is located at the Student Accounting office, room 105.
2. Provide us with your UNT EMPL ID Number (8 Digit Number that students can locate online at my.unt.edu by clicking on "Student Center" and then "Demographic Data" under the "Personal Information" section). Let us know which card works best for you.
3. Students selecting the Standard Card will have their picture taken and will receive their ID card.

CVAD Students, faculty and staff that are unable to swipe into the building after-hours next week with a current UNT ID card will need to visit the key shop on campus. The key shop is located on the NE corner of Sycamore Hall and can only be accessed from the exterior of the building. The key shop will verify that the magnetic swipe on the back of your ID card is coded correctly. The key shop hours are Monday – Friday 8am-5pm.
