Responsibility for Fines:

You are responsible for all library materials checked out to your account and for any fines incurred whether or not you receive a notice.

When Fines are Assessed:

You are assessed a fine for all days that checked out items are overdue regardless of whether or not the Libraries are open.

Fines on overdue materials checked out in hourly increments (reserves and laptops) are assessed by the hour.

Items Deposited in a Drop Box:

Materials deposited in a drop box after regular operational hours are backdated, to the previous day. However, due to their fragile nature, some items should not be left in a drop box.

Paying Fines

See this page for details about paying fines, fines disputes, etc.

Blocked Accounts:

The Libraries may block you from checking out materials if you have overdue, lost items, other financial obligations to the Libraries, or if we have an incorrect address.

Individuals who fail to return or renew materials within the specified time period or who owe fines in excess of specified amounts may be blocked with the Registrar’s Office until the block is cleared with the Library Services Desk in Willis Library.

Misuse:

Patrons who willfully steal, destroy, or damage library property may be subject to university disciplinary action, resulting in possible loss of privileges, replacement fees, probation, suspension, or further action.  Theft of library books or other property is a criminal offense. See Damaged Item Charges & Miscellaneous Charges.
