Distinguished Speaker Series

The College of Business Distinguished Speaker Series provides students and faculty with an opportunity to interact with prominent executives and community leaders. It offers students first-hand information about the complexities of the business world, while inspiring them to seek new ways to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Speakers share their views about successful management styles, possible career paths, critical industry-related issues, and qualities conducive to successful business leadership. These lectures seek to enhance the educational experience of students in the College of Business while showcasing programs, faculty, and students to the international business community.

Ryan Nelson
Regional Vice President of Sales
Salesforce

Ryan Nelson has turned a degree in Society & Justice from the University of Washington (’93) into a 23 year selling career helping clients of all sizes solve their most pressing business problems. While maximizing profit per square foot in a retail environment, transforming customer service experiences and driving productivity gains across all facets of his client’s business he’s built great relationships finding humor along the way and is known to introduce himself as software engineer arm candy.

His efforts have resulted in a variety of successes for his clients which has in turn culminated in career opportunities across the wireless, high tech, and enterprise software industries selling into Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing and High Tech. For the last 2 ½ years Ryan has worked for Salesforce as a Regional Vice President of Sales in their Commercial Business Unit and is currently responsible for driving revenue growth at ExxonMobil as a Strategic Account Executive.

From Seattle, to San Francisco, back again to Seattle and now finally in Texas, Ryan resides in Southlake with his wife Alison and two daughters. When he is not helping manage one daughter’s club soccer team or attending the others gymnastics meets he can be found developing his home brewing skills or traveling with his family around the world.
