Student Testimonials

The Professional Leadership Program has taught me valuable skills for the professional world from networking to negotiating salaries to connecting with professionals. Not only do I feel more confident about myself, but I now know I hold the leadership edge among my peers because of the connections and resources PLP has provided me. PLP is more than just a student organization or peer group it is a professional group of students with the skills, resources and connections to stand out in this competitive market and that is the leadership edge to the fullest!

“PLP provided me with the opportunity to develop my professionalism. I went from quiet and reserved (“typical accountant”) to outspoken and highly driven. This program changed the way I challenged myself from only focusing on my grades to the importance of connecting with other young professionals. I learned the value of strengthening relationships through the connection I have with my own mentor and other fellow leaders within the program. The time I invested in this program is the reason why I have been recognized by UNT’s Accounting Department and other organizations.”

"The Professional Leadership Program was one of the biggest assets that contributed to my growth as a Young Professional. The networking experience along with the bonding opportunity's we received with successful professionals helped me to have confidence to compete in today's job market amongst students from nationally renowned Universities. I've referenced PLP in several interviews and truly believe it provided me the upper hand on my peers. I appreciate everything I've gained from the program and recommend students to join often."

"Before I entered the PLP, I had a very broad idea of what it truly meant to be a professional. I had minimal knowledge on professionalism and I thought it was enough to get me by decently. Ironically, on the very first PLP meeting, I quickly realized just how wrong I was in my assumptions. I started off as a young and ambitious individual and developed into a professional, diverse, and adaptable individual. My assigned mentor pinpointed my weaknesses and addressed them in such a way that I was able to improve and overcome them. The program then developed every necessary skill that I needed and by the end of the program, I was given the opportunity to interview with six accounting firms and I ultimately received a full time offer from the top ranked accounting firm on my list. Every success that I've had out in the professional world is attributable to the PLP and I truly can't express just how much I've grown because of the program."
