Mean Green To Face Tigers Monday Night In Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Following the Christmas break the North Texas women's basketball team is back in action as they start their longest road trip of the season with a battle at Missouri. The Mean Green faces the Tigers to start a four-game road trip. North Texas has lost four of its last five games while the Tigers are riding a five-game winning streak.

Game time is at 6:30 from the Missouri Sports Arena and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.

North Texas and Missouri are meeting for only the second time in series history. The Mean Green and Tigers met 22 years ago on December 11, 1987. It was the first game of the Missouri Invitational in which the Tigers pounded the Mean Green 97-69 in Columbia.

Freshman Jasmine Godbolt tied her career-high with 18 points against FIU en route to her third double-double of the year. Godbolt had 11 rebounds, one shy of her career-best. She is the top leading rebounder among freshman in the Sun Belt Conference at 8.0 rebounds a game.

Along with her strong play inside, Godbolt has taken steps to improve her free throw shooting in December. In the first eight games of the season Godbolt was hitting only 48.9 percent of her free throws. The last four games has seen Godbolt hit 76.6 percent of her free throws. In the first eight games she hit 24 free throws and in the last four she has hit 23 free throws.

North Texas had one of its better nights in terms of taking care of the basketball against FIU. The Mean Green had 19 turnovers, which is the second fewest in a game this season for North Texas. The points off of turnovers have been a major thorn in the side for North Texas.

Through the first 10 games, the Mean Green's opponents had been averaging 27.2 points off of the NT turnovers. The last two games North Texas has allowed only 27 points off of their mistakes while converted 48 points of their own off of the opponents turnovers.
