North Texas Looks To Begin New Winning Streak Tonight

DENTON (12/20/05) - The North Texas women's basketball team returns home to face off with UC-Irvine after having its five-game winning streak snapped by Texas. UC-Irvine is coming off its first win of the season over SE Louisiana, 82-75.

North Texas will meet up with an old Big West foe for the first time since leaving the conference in 2000. The series with UC-Irvine is tied at 3-3 between the two teams. North Texas won the last meeting in 2000, 61-59 in Irvine. The Mean Green has won the last three battles, including a 70-67 win over the Anteaters in Denton in 999. North Texas is 1-2 against UC-Irvine at the Super Pit.

North Texas can start the year out at 6-0 at home with a win over UC-Irvine for the third time in eight seasons. The Mean Green is 4-3 at home over the past two seasons and 67-9 in the last eight years. North Texas has started the year out at home 6-0 only three times in school history and the Mean Green can make it four with a win.
