Jackson Named Sun Belt Conference Player Of The Week

DENTON, Texas (12/16/08) North Texas senior forward Amber Jackson was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week as she continues to etch her name into the Mean Green’s record books.

Jackson recorded her fifth and sixth straight double-double on the season as she averaged 18 points and grabbed 13.5 rebounds in games at New Mexico and SMU.

In the Mean Green's near upset at New Mexico, Jackson scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds. Her 22 points were one shy of a career high. The 12 rebounds by Jackson are the most allowed by New Mexico this season to an opposing player.

At SMU Jackson poured in 16 points and had 15 rebounds. She hit 60 percent of her shots at SMU and had two blocks and two steals.  Jackson's six straight double-doubles are the most by a North Texas player since the 1985-86 season.

She ranks seventh all-time with 1,061 career points and seventh with 600 career rebounds.

North Texas is back in action Thursday night as they begin Sun Belt Conference play on the road at Louisiana-Lafayette.
