Mean Green Visits UMKC Looking For First Win

DENTON, Texas (11/21/08) The North Texas women’s basketball team continues its five-game road trip to start the season out with a battle against UMKC on Saturday afternoon. The Mean Green is in search of their first win of the season after losing the opener against Marshall 78-69.

UMKC is 1-1 on the year and picked up its first win of the year Wednesday night at home against SIU-Edwardsville.

North Texas leads the series with UMKC 2-0. The two teams last played in 2002 at the SW Texas Century Tel Classic. That was a 24-point blowout win for North Texas 65-41. The only other previous meeting came in 2000 when UMKC paid a visit to the Super Pit.

That was another North Texas rout as the Mean Green won 98-55. It is the first time that North Texas will play at UMKC.

Senior Tricia Lee, who made all of one start last season, has more than made up for lost time after getting the start to begin the season at Marshall.  Lee scored a career-high 21 points and hit a career-best five 3-pointers against Marshall.

It is her first 20-point game and her highest point total in over two seasons.  Lee also notched three steals and now stands just four shy of 100 steals for her career with 96.

Tip-off is at 2 p.m. but there is no radio broadcast due to the North Texas football broadcast.
