Women's Basketball Signs Two, Top-100 Recruit

DENTON, Texas - North Texas women's basketball head coach Mike Petersen has announced the signings of Candice Adams and Terra Ellison to National Letters of Intent. Adams, a top-100 national recruit, is a point guard out of Cedar Hill High School, and Ellison is an athletic wing from The Colony High School.

Adams is the first ever top-100 national recruit signed by the North Texas women's basketball program.

"We are very excited about Terra and Candice because they bring such a high level of athleticism, and they are both highly-skilled players," said Petersen. "They come from great high school programs in the area, and we are thrilled that they are both joining us."

Adams is ranked 12th in the state of Texas by Joey Simmons of the Premier Basketball Report. She is nationally-ranked No. 99 by ESPN and a four-star talent. She has a scout grade of 92 from ESPN.

Adams is also the 29th best point guard in the nation, according to ESPN. Cedar Hill won 28 games last season and is ranked ninth in the Class 5A preseason TABC coaches poll.

"She's a really gifted point guard. She sees the floor and can defense her position at a high level. She has a great mid-range game and a highly developed sense of the game. She is just a tremendous talent."

Ellison comes in as the reigning 4A Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 and the 92nd ranked prospect in Texas, according to the Joey Simmons Premier Basketball Report. Last season, Ellison averaged 14.1 points a game and grabbed 8.1 rebounds a contest. She finished the year with 424 total points and 243 rebounds.

"She is a really good perimeter athlete who can defend four different positions on the floor. She has a high basketball IQ and fits in really well with our system. I think will be a tremendous player."
