DENTON, Texas - North Texas women's basketball announced the signing of five student-athletes to letters of intent on Wednesday. The Mean Green signed two guards, Briana Brooks and Loryn Goodwin, and three forwards in Eboniey Jeter, I'Tiana Taylor and Acheil Tac.

"I am thrilled to be able to finally talk about these young ladies joining the Mean Green family," said head coach Karen Aston. "First of all, I can't say enough about the work our staff and current players put in to bringing this group together. Their commitment to recruiting and helping this program grow has been remarkable. In addressing the players we signed today, the words that come to mind are athletic, competitive, and winners! All of these young women come from great high school programs where winning is a habit, and all of them have been coached by great coaches. I am proud that they chose North Texas as a place they could grow as players, students and young women. Success breeds success and I can't wait to add all of these young women to the Mean Green nation."

Brooks is a guard from Tyler Robert E. Lee High School. She was named first-team all-district in her junior year, posting 15.5 points and five assists per game. She was named first team all-district her sophomore and freshman years as well, and was named freshman of the year.

Goodwin is a point guard from Cypress Falls High School, which is currently ranked as the No. 6 team in Texas by the TABC/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine poll. Prior to beginning this season at Cy-Falls, she played at Temple High School, where she posted 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 steals, and three assists per game in 2010-11.

For her 2010-11 season, she was named TGCA All-State and TBCA All-Region, All-Super Centex team, academic all-district team, and was the District 12-5A Offensive MVP. She was named newcomer of the year in 2008-09, and has been named first team all-District for three straight years. A versatile athlete, she was named first team all-district 12-5A in volleyball and track. Her cousin, Marquise Goodwin, is wide receiver and a four-time All-American in track and field at the University of Texas.

Jeter is a post from Harker Heights High School, which is currently ranked as the No. 25 team in Texas by the TABC/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine poll. She averaged 13.9 points and 16 rebounds a year her junior year, en route to being named first team all-district. She was named first team all-district as a sophomore, and named newcomer of the year as a freshman.

Tac is a power forward from Sachse High School, and is one of the leading rebounders in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a forward. She was named All-District 10-5A in 2011, and was named Sachse Offensive Player of the Year. She averaged 11.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in 2010-11. She scored a total 297 points, and grabbed a Sachse school record 324 rebounds, including a school-record 20 in one game during 2010-11.

Taylor is a power forward from Pflugerville High School, who is currently ranked as the No. 16 team in Texas by the TABC/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine poll. Taylor ranks as the 52nd best power forward in the country by Dan Olsen Girls Basketball Report. As a junior in 2010-11, she helped Pflugerville to a 30-7 record and the regional final, averaging 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.6 assists per game.

She was named to the District 16-5A First Team and Texas Basketball Magazine Honorable Mention, along with being named Miss Offense and Miss Defense by Pflugerville. As a sophomore in 2009-10, she helped Pflugerville to a district championship, averaging 11.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 1.2 assists per game. She was named as the All-Central Texas Newcomer of the Year and the District 22-5A Newcomer of the Year in 2009-10.

Briana Brooks, 5-8, Point Guard, Tyler, Texas, (Robert E. Lee HS)
Brooks is a guard from Tyler Robert E. Lee High School. She was named first team all-district in her junior year, posting 15.5 points and five assists per game. She was named first team all-district her sophomore and freshman years as well, and was named freshman of the year.

"Bre caught my eye immediately this summer with her incredible energy on the court. She has a point guard mentality, and demands her team to play hard! She will bring an edge at that position and fills an obvious need with the graduation of two point guards this year. The fans will love Bre's personality and energy."

Loryn Goodwin, 5-8, Guard, Houston, Texas (Cypress Falls HS)

"We were actually very lucky to have stumbled onto Loryn. With the changing of high schools, I think her decision was a bit delayed in choosing schools, which allowed us to get in the picture. Loryn brings to us, a very stable player at the combo-guard position. She is incredibly competitive and has great leadership skills. Again, a great student, that has very high goals for herself in life, and another player with personality that will be a fan favorite."

Eboniey Jeter, 6-1, Forward, Killeen, Texas (Harker Heights HS)

"I am extremely excited about Eboniey and her upside as a basketball player. She is very serious about being good, and is also a terrific student, who strives for the best. Eboniey will bring an athletic body to the court, with a knack for rebounding. Her offensive skills will improve as she grows her game, but the defensive skills and rebounding have her ready for the college game."

Acheil Tac, 6-1, Forward, Garland, Texas (Sachse HS)

"Acheil will probably be the surprise of the class. She didn't play on a high-profile team in the summer, but I believe her future is very, very bright. Acheil really hasn't been playing basketball long, and when she gets to the college level, she is going to blossom. She brings great energy, and the ability to dominate a game on the boards. We call her a "pogo stick" because of how quick she gets off the floor. Another very bright student with a tremendous upside."
