The Super Pit, Denton, Texas

Up next: The North Texas women host Florida International Saturday, February 9, at the Super Pit. Game time is 5 p.m.

Laura McCoy's three-pointer at the 16:40 mark of the first half gave the junior guard 112 threes for her career, tying her with Brittney James on for third place among North Texas career three-point leaders. McCoy then took sole possession of third on the list with her first shot of the second half.

Thursday night's win was the fifth in the last six games for Western Kentucky against North Texas, including a win earlier this season in Bowling Green.

North Texas has just one loss against Sun Belt West competition (5-1) but has a losing record against the Sun Belt's East Division, going 3-5 thus far.

The Mean Green has reserved its best performances this year for the road, where it scored hard fought wins against Arkansas State and Arkansas-Little Rock. But at home, North Texas has struggled to find its intensity. "We've got to start playing better at home," North Texas coach Mike Petersen said. "We have not played as well at home as on the road, and I don't know what the answer is."
