Jackson Named To ESPN The Magazine Academic First-Team

DENTON, Texas (2/5/09) The accolades continue to roll in for Amber Jackson. The North Texas women’s basketball star was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First-Team on Thursday.

The senior, who already has an undergraduate degree in her pocket and is working on her Master’s Degree in Education, will now be nominated for Academic All-America honors.

Jackson is a three-time member of the North Texas President’s list (GPA 3.5-4.0) and a four-time member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List.

On the court Jackson is turning in one of the best seasons in school history for North Texas. She is averaging a double-double with 17.5 points and 10 rebounds a game.

Jackson needs just one more rebound to become the all-time leading rebounder in school history, breaking the nine-year old record. She has 13 double-double’s and earlier this season became the 11th player in school history to score over 1,000 points for her career.

Jackson was named to the first-team from District VI. To have been nominated for the award, players must have maintained at least a 3.30 grade point average and been either a starter or a key reserve.
