North Texas Faces Troy On The Road Tonight

TROY, Ala. - Fresh off their record setting performance against New Orleans the North Texas women's basketball team looks to keep the momentum going tonight as they face Troy on the road. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Trojan Arena and the game can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.

North Texas is coming off a 10-point win over New Orleans and sits alone in third place of the SBC West Division. Troy is 9-5 on the year and 5-1 at home this season.

North Texas scored 94 points against New Orleans, which is the most points scored in a Sun Belt Conference game by the Mean Green since joining the league in 2000. The 94 points were the most scored in a game since reaching 95 against Charleston Southern last season.

It is only the fourth time since joining the Sun Belt that North Texas has topped the 90-point mark in a conference game. The 94 points scored were the most in a conference game by the Mean Green since February 3, 1994 when North Texas poured in 105 points against Nicholls State.

Brittney James had a season-high 26 points against New Orleans and she has now scored in double figures in a career-best seven games. James topped the 20-point mark for the ninth time in her career against New Orleans. She had 14 free throws in the win over UNO, which is tied for the fourth most in school history and the most in a game since 2000 at North Texas.

James over the last seven games has averaged 18.5 points a game. She is now fifth in the SBC in scoring at 15 points a game but in conference games James is the second leading scorer in the league at 19.2 points a game.

While James got most of the attention in the New Orleans win with 26 points, Tamara Torru and Brittney Hudson both had career highs with 17 and 14 points respectively. Torru reached double figures for just the third time of her career while Hudson had a near flawless game with two 3-pointers, two assists, and three steals. Torru also had a career-best eight free throws.
