Southern Arkansas Comes to Denton For First Action of Season
Head coach Mike Petersen said that practices have been good in preparation for the exhibition game.

"There's those beginning-of-the-year jitters, but it's really exciting to start my senior year," she smirked.
At 6 p.m. on Thursday night, the Mean Green will see its first game action of the 2014-15 season. Exhibition contest or not, Wynn is handling this game as she would any other. When asked how she will know if the game against the Muleriders was a success, she responded with two words:
"The scoreboard."
Mike Petersen, a 21-year collegiate head coaching veteran about to begin his third season at the North Texas helm, has some different goals for the game.
"The reason you play an exhibition game is to find out about your team and to knock some of the rust off from playing in a long time," he explained.
The head coach then ran off a laundry list of exactly what he wants to see out of his team when they take the court tomorrow. Primarily energy, pace and execution. Not to mention that he expects the Mean Green to compete on every possession, play hard, play organized and, overall, play well.
After not having an exhibition game last year, Petersen hopes to take full advantage of the opportunity this season against Southern Arkansas. Practices have been good in preparation for the game and there should be chances for every player on the roster to see the court.
"We're gonna play a lot of people in a lot of different combinations," he said. "[Games like these] are 100-percent about gathering information."
