Mitchell was named head coach of the North Texas women's basketball team on April 9, 2015. Between moving back to Denton, getting to know the team and beginning to operate the Mean Green program, Mitchell will be very busy early on in her tenure. On April 11, Jalie Mitchell was fresh off her inaugural press conference and looking for somewhere permanent to live in her old/new home of Denton. On Day 2 of the #First44, she found a house she liked and put in an offer. Now 36 days later, it is official: the new Mean Green women's basketball head coach is a homeowner in North Texas.

"Words can't describe how great it feels to own a home again," she said. "You're taught in this profession to rent, because you never know where you'll end up from one year to the next. In this case, I came home and there's nothing more I would rather do than be firmly planted, fertilize and water this opportunity so I can watch it grow into something special."
