TAMS student Prateek Kalakuntla is a Top 5 winner in the 2016 Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology and won a $30,000 scholarship. Inspired by the water contamination problems in Flint, Michigan, Kalakuntla created a sensor to detect mercury and other toxins in water, working with Mohammad Omary, a professor of chemistry and an affiliated professor of physics.
