Captain Scott Adams

Captain Scott Adams was born in Binghamton, N.Y. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He was accepted in the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program and received his commission in April 1987 upon completion of Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I.

Adams has served at sea as a division officer on USS Simon Bolivar (SSBN 641), Combat Systems Officer on USS Montpelier (SSN 765), Executive Officer on USS Asheville (SSN 758) and commanded USS Norfolk (SSN 714). He has completed six strategic deterrent patrols and deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Gulf and Western Pacific.

Ashore, Adams has served as a training programs officer at Strategic Systems Programs Office, Combat Systems Officer at Submarine Squadron 8, and Security Assistance Programs Officer at U. S. Pacific Command. After command, he attended the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. where he received a Master’s Degree in Foreign Affairs. Upon completion of War College, Capt. Adams served as the Deputy Commander for Training at Submarine Squadron 1 and the senior member of the Tactical Readiness Evaluation Team.

On shore support, Adams served as Commanding Officer, Naval Base Point Loma and will continue as the Chief of Staff of Naval District Washington.
